(13:00) Written and Performed by Terry Galloway. Directed by Donna Marie Nudd and Diane Wilkins. Produced by Diane Wilkins Productions/Fifth Business/Faust Films.

Description

"Just the Funny Bits" features an introduction by Terry Galloway followed by three comic routines from Out All Night and Lost My Shoes. An hour and fifteen minute theatre production, Out All Night has toured nationally and internationally with PS 122 Field Trips and been presented in New York City (1988), London (1992) and Edinburgh (1992) and many other cities across the US and Canada. Not quite blind as a bat, but definitely deaf as a doornail, Terry Galloway is the modern medical accident featured in Out All Night and Lost My Shoes. The solo theatre performance mixes poetry, storytelling, stand-up, New Vaudeville and plain old corny vaudeville. Out All Night is a charged celebration of one oddball’s life. For the theatre productions, Nudd served as director and dramaturge and co-producer and Terry Galloway as writer, performer and co-producer; for this video excerpt from the theatre production, Diane Wilkins, a professional filmmaker, served as director and editor and co-producer.

This thirteen-minute video, which features comedic excerpts from Out All Night, is part of a multimedia project. In addition to Donna Marie Nudd, who served as director and dramaturg for the theatre production of Out All Night, four scholars in Performance Studies comment on or respond to video excerpts: Jill Taft-Kaufman, Professor, Central Michigan University; Chris Strickling, Independent Scholar; Joanne Gilbert, Associate Professor, Alma College; and Carrie Sandahl, Associate Professor, Florida State University.
